A reputed Pune based developer having spent most of his childhood in a bungalow decides to relocate into a penthouse in a premium high rise at Koregaon Park, undoubtedly the most sought after address in Pune. The client’s brief for his apartment was to create a space which is a reflection of his personality.Young and energetic by nature, he was seeking a place to rewind at the end of a hectic workday schedule and distress with friends and family informally-a sky retreat! .The core of the project revolved around a lofty double height terrace space attached to the main living room. The double heighted terrace wall is clad in variably textured black granite strips which forms the backdrop for an elongated island counter finished insitu grey concrete. Stark white outdoor loungers and a day bed contrast with the dark wood deck flooring lead to an infinity edge plunge pool.Mood lighting in the form of hanging pendants, coves and up lighters for planters along with soft pool lights set thetone for the space where the boundaries of inside and outside are blurred.
Attached to the terrace is the luxuriously sized living zone which combines lounging and dining spaces divided by a delicately crafted metal screen.
The experience of a veneer clad lift lobby extends itself into the living area, where seamlessly detailed paneling cleverly hide doors to access spaces like the powder toilet, kitchen and bedrooms beyond.
The space is further accentuated with large artwork and strategically located accessories to add a strong sense of style. Carefully disguised in the bar coded dark veneer cladding of the living wall is the door to the master bedroom suite. Grey walls, stained wooden flooring, charcoal grey drapes separating the bed and bath area, characterize the look and feel that was desired by the client. The parents’ bedroom has been designed in subtle beige tones to reflect their elegant taste.
A minimalist four-poster bed frames leather clad wardrobe shutters and wall panels detailed to look alike.
In contrast to the formality of this room, the daughter’s bedroom has been designed to reflect the personality of its user.An aspiring designer herself, the room is characterized by light wood flooring, stained white open grain wardrobe shutters and white brick cladding that finds its way even into the walk-in and bath.A vibrant Marilyn Monroepainting balances the otherwise predominantly white palette.
The fourth bedroom of the apartment has been envisaged as a combination of a study and a lounge space. The room boasts of wall to wall, floor to ceiling shelving that houses books and displays mementos of world travel. Grey mirror cladding behind the shelving was used to create the illusion of a bigger space that was otherwise compact.
